Cool Concepts: The Ceiling Hanging Bed

The Ceiling Hanging Bed

The Bedup is a true space-saver, planned by a trio of designers – Gad Benarroch, Wolfgang Gerlach and Grison Alexandre – for genuine small-space living. This full-sized bed offers the occupants an excellent night’s sleep and, during the daytime when space is at a premium, it can be raised in its entirety to be aligned horizontally at ceiling level.

You have no need to invest in special sheets or covers since you raise your Bedup in the morning, providing yourself with an extra 4m2 of living area and, in the evening, simply lower away.

Bedup has been described as a mobile mezzanine. It is a truly practical retractable bed which can be arranged out of sight in line with the ceiling, providing even the smallest living space with the optimal provision for daytime comfort.

Manual leverage ensures no costly breakdowns and counterweight facilities ensure that raising and lowering the bed from its sleeping position to its daytime position is quiet with no noisy motor or mechanical vibration to disrupt your peace and quiet.

A load-bearing wall is not necessary as the Bedup system is attached to your ceiling joists, although for convenience, wall fittings are also included. When you are ready for bed, your Bedup is all made up and ready for you: just lower away and you can enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep.

Visit the site to find out more about Bedup. It’s in French so you may want to visit through this page in order to check it out in English.
