small homes
I like a lot of dark colors. I’m big on romance and intimacy, so it’s no surprise I take to things that offer quite a bit of ambiance… like sconces. Anyway, I just purchased two candle sconce sets today. One set for my living room and another for my hallway. The living room I’m not so concerned about, but the hallway…
Okay, so in my last video clip I talked about putting matboard up. For me, matboard is an alternative to refrigerator frames with magnets. I thought it was a better option to tape the matboard on my fridge to highlight memories or just showcase pictures that will accent my kitchen.
Okay, so I purchased two Walmart lamps and placed them on my shelving in living room. The problem isn’t with the lamp on the first shelf, but rather with the one on the top shelf. I can’t reach it and I’ll be darned if I’m going to climb up and down on a step ladder every single day to turn it off.
Stay with me as I redecorate my small living room and kitchen. View video clips. Also includes photos of the sectional sofa. I hope something helps you out along the way!
In a previous forum post of mine, I showed photos of a bedroom of mine that I’m turning into a home office. However, I thought it was a good idea to share the most important parts on the main part of this site. Since then I’ve done a tad bit more work and at the end of the month, I’ll be adding…
When you’re given 63 square feet to turn into a bedroom and a workspace, there’s a fine line between cozy and cramped – especially when your wallet is wearing thin. Given that I could not sacrifice desk space for floor space, my approach was simple: neutral colors, maximum light, and efficient…
I am a design student in Los Angeles and I live in a studio apartment that is approximately 300 square feet. I’m all about my studio, its one of my favorite projects to work on. Its important to me to visually divide up the space with out making it feel cramped, to make sure it…
I think we’ve made beautiful use of this 10.5′ × 12.5′ (I am not joking!) space by angling the couch in the longer direction to fool the eye to thinking the room is bigger than it really is. We have a gorgeous faux fireplace that that sits across from the couch so that when you are in…
When I first saw this space, I was sad and wondered how I’d ever be able to live in it… it was so small and had zero character. This is the studio apartment I moved to after my husband left me a few months ago. I call it the Fonzie Room because it’s on top of a garage attached…
When I moved into my new space, I was bemoaning to a friend how small my bedroom felt… to which they replied, “Well, itâs no wonder — youâve got like an entire apartment squeezed into this one room!” A few weeks and some rearranging later, I found myself extremely satisfied with…
Our family room is 25′ by 9 1/2′, with a door leading out the garage, a door leading out to the patio, and doorways to the kitchen on one end, and the dining room on the other. So I was basically limited to one wall against which the furniture could go. Any other placement would have blocked…
I hope you enjoy viewing my space. I know I do!! Although it’s tight living I’d have to admit this has been my best apartment. The first photo is a view of my living room taken in the small space between my kitchen and dining room. From here you can see how I have made use of the foundational focal…
I think my bedroom is the perfect mix of masculinity with a relaxed island theme. Though having numerous personal relics, from the early twentieth century trolley car fare-box I restored to the slate fossil of a fern leaf I found with my grandfather as as a child, my room is full of memories…
I live in a roughly 400 square foot studio apartment. It’s definitely been a challenge to find space for all of my belongings. My strategy is to try to buy thrifty pieces that can be used for multiple functions. I’m also a firm believer in going vertical and using all your available wall space.
You can see the front entry that leads into the living room and kitchen in the first photo. The second photo shows the small closet to the left as you enter. In the third photo you can see a quick glimpse of the kitchen. Our doghouse is built into an island bar which allows even more living space!
My sister is a great resource for offering you tips on decorating a studio apartment since sheâs lived in a studio apartment for almost 6 years now. The size of her apartment is less the 400 square feet. My guess is that it ranges in between 200-300 square feet.
I have the best small bedroom on the planet! I live in a tiny studio apartment in downtown DC and have no choice but to be very creative about my entire living space. However, I do have to say there is a downside to my “bedroom nook” Itâs such a nice quiet sanctuary that itâs hard to leave sometimes.
I live in a small studio apartment and itâs all about dividing up the space and using what I already have to make it work. To have my bedroom be a separate space, I used an open bookshelf coming off the wall and sheer curtains from the ceiling that I can leave open or close off my bed from…
I just love my daughterâs room. We just painted last week and the soft pink just makes the room glow. There are so many things I love about her room. The shelves above the bed help keep things off of the floor as does the headboard/shelves.
View a few before and after photos of Autumnâs kitchen in her studio apartment. Here we can see how small changes can make a big difference. She painted her wall and we can also see she hung up some photos to server as a focal point.
I think this small bedroom is the best, because it is so in style with Hannah Montana bedspread and accessories. My granddaughter who lives with us enjoys the bedroom every day. She is a Hannah Montana fan. This was her very first bedroom, too.
Our nursery is in a home 100+ years old. We wanted vibrancy, no pastels and chose eggshell walls (6 coats!) with candy-apple trim and black accents. Daddy hand-made the crib. Best part: totally unfinished when I went into labor a month early, daddy completed it in 36 hours!
I think my room is the best because even though its small, I made the best of its space. I think my room is especially good because it has a theme to it. Nothing fancy, just a color theme: red, black and white.
I just did my room over because we had a small flood in our house at Christmas time. My mom said I can do what I want, so I scraped together all my creative juices and came up with this. It is beautiful and unique, just like me.
OOH LA LA! I have always thought of myself as a “girlie-girl.” For about 11 years, I had the same, somewhat childish bedroom and when I FINALLY got around to redecorating it, I thought to myself…
I think my small bedroom is the best because my room represents who I am. It is filled with ribbons I won in horse shows and many good memories! I also think my small bedroom is the best because I can walk in my room and feel like I am at the barn but without the smell and work…
No, Iâm not entering two rooms! I work from home and we have a 700 sq. ft. place with two tiny rooms. We had to make room for baby, but I still needed a place to work to pay for those diapers! Solution-the nursery/home office… look…
Every time that I enter my small room I am very proud of the ways in which I have organized it. My small bedroom is the best, first of all, because it is romantically pleasing to the eyes and inviting to the soul.
I think my small bedroom is the best because it is the perfect place for dreaming whether I am awake or asleep. It is decorated with all the things that make me happy, and to be quite honest, it is where I keep most of my possessions that I use on a daily or nightly basis.
We painted all four walls a pale grey and put down silver/grey carpet. The room was lacking something, and just looked like a small grey box. I added wallpaper with a white background and grey, black and white stripes to one solid wall in the room.
This was a fairly newer home and after a couple of years I got tired of the white walls. The furniture was left over from the post college collection and I wanted to be proud of where my guests would stay when they come visit.
My small bedroom is a winner because of its uncluttered look, and unique fusion of French and Asian themes. My walls were antiqued by me in a soft buttery toffee color with white glaze, making the occupant feel they are in the bedroom of chateau.
This bedroom, in Boulder, Colorado, was once intended as an enclosed porch so two of the walls are actually large windows. I took advantage of the natural light by hanging gauze curtains which provided a warm, dreamy atmosphere.
I had an EXTREMELY small bedroom I used to live in. My old bedroom was a closet. Me and my two other roommates moved into a two bedroom apartment with a storage closet which I ended up with for a bedroom. I moved out of my small bedroom just over a month ago.
I feel my bedroom has itâs own personal charm. It may be small, but my room reflects my personality and itâs one of the only places I can think of as my own sanctuary. I color coordinated the room around whiteâwhite being a color that represents purity. It seemed to fit with my sanctuary idea.
My bedroom is very small and that helps it go along with our very small house (600 sq. feet total). The room is small but has a cozy feel to it and everything has to be arranged just right for it to fit properly. I have tried my best to do that.
Our whole cabin is very smallâunder 500 ft. We love living in the mountains and our little home suits us. We like the cozy feeling of a small bedroom. We have the bed at an angle to be able to see the view and since we have two dogs it gives them room on either side of the bed.
I think my small bedroom is the best because this is what all my friends and family always tell me (and I have to admit, I tend to agree!). Itâs tough still living at home, so I needed a bedroom that I could escape to for long periods of time which means it had to be equipped with everything.
The walls of my bedroom are decorated with my artwork and with outside images I have collected in the past. Every time I feel confined I glance at the hung works and the company, pleasure, inspiration, and grandeur that they bring aggrandize and dominate over the smallness of the room.
My room is the best because it packs a lot of punch for such a small space. It is my bedroom, office, entertainment centre, ‘crafts’ room and coffee/snack bar. What I love most about my room is the colour.
