Not everyone in a house is tall; that is the main concept behind the creation of this Staircase, designed by the Shanghai based designer Danny Kuo. The Staircase is actually a bookcase that features sling out shelves.

If for instance you need a book placed on the upper shelf, but you are not tall enough to get it, you can simply pull the lower shelves out and use them as steps of a ladder. Shelves used as ladders are not a new concept, but the Staircase can be put anywhere and it’s very simple in creation and execution.

The design allows you to take advantage of high ceilings but still have an easily accessible piece of furniture in your apartment, especially if you are vertically challenged.

The Staircase can also be used instead of ladder if you want to reach a lofted area for storage. It is a practical and sleek storage furniture piece.

Wall stairs designed by Aaron Tang in the US, use simple mechanical hinges and pistons in order to fold up against the wall when you don’t need them, or when you want to restrict access to the upper floor. When the wall stairs are closed they lie flat against the wall; if you want to open them you simply press a button and the hydraulic system pushes the stairs back to their initial position, allowing you to access the second floor. The stairs open with a soundless and gradual wave like pattern, and the steps seem to magically unfold while opening.

Toaster for Small Kitchens

The Roller Toaster, a toaster for small kitchens, is a innovative way to take toasting bread to the next level. The design was created by Jaren Goh in 2006 for the Meiban Group LTD. The design won the Reddot Design Award in 2006. This small kitchen toaster is designed much like the power strips used today. The concept is to place your bread horizontally into the toaster.

As the bread is pulled through the toaster it is toasted, then drops down onto your plate. The design was created as a way to save countertop space, as the Roller Toaster is much smaller and compact than its counterpart.

This new design would also be much easier to clean then the conventional toaster since there is basically no room for crumbs to fall in to. The small kitchen toaster would be perfect for toasting a lot of bread, and would definitely be an asset to any home or hotel room. The designer has not stated when or if this concept will go into production.

I came across this cool sofa when surfing the web. What I was thinking was this would be a really cool idea to copy. Particularly for small kid’s rooms. It would fit right in there. Can you imagine your little girl or boy’s room having a cool stuffed animal sofa like this?

I bet it would it would catch attention.

This would also be budget-friendly in the right situation–with a house full of old stuffed animals collecting dust. I’m not sure how you’d go about making it, but I’m guessing some needle and thread would be part of the bargain. If not thread… perhaps something thicker and stronger?
