Alternatives: Disappearing Printer Trick

Recently I had to move due to my mom coming down this way. Since we decided to room together it meant a completely different apartment.

That in turn also meant a different room for me. A much smaller room in the end. Knowing that I understood I was going to have to make some sacrifices.

About 4 or 5 pieces of furniture and that was going to be it for me.

The result ended up being that I had a place for my desk but no place for my printer. At least not an obvious place. So I decided (like before) to put my printer in the closet. Except this time there was a benefit to it.

In my other apartment I had to wheel my printer out of the closet and connect it to my computer in order to use it.

This time my printer would stay connected and it would just go unseen whenever the closet door was closed. It was perfect.

With this idea I decided to use my usual USB cable since it was much thinner than my serial cable and it would allow for my closet door to be closed almost all of the way.

The finishing results looked like this…

Now, all I have to do is press print and simply open my door and grab the papers once they are done printing.

So if you’re in the same predicament consider that idea. It works perfectly if you’ve got a computer in a corner near a closet like mine.

It takes up no extra space in your room. And most people will be surprised to find when you open your closet and they see your printer, that you’ve got such a snazzy set-up.

My mother and sister both loved the idea and thought it was ingenious!
