Small Homes: Tara’s Home Office Nursery

No, Iâm not entering two rooms! I work from home and we have a 700 sq. ft. place with two tiny rooms. We had to make room for baby, but I still needed a place to work to pay for those diapers! Solution—the nursery/home office… look to the right and itâs all business, look to the left and itâs awww sweetness!

Highlights of Tara’s Room

  • The first thing I noticed about this room was the very clean and simplistic look and feel. Like all rooms on this site, it’s not a big room, but it has a very ‘open’ feel to it. It’s well done as a home office and nursery.

I think a lot of the praise comes from the nice tiles. Like Tara, if you’re looking to turn a small bedroom into a home office you could consider putting tiles down. You could pull the carpet up and purchase the necessary items (tiles, etc.) and tile the floor yourself. Or if you’re not up for the job you can get it professionally done.

  • Tara also did a wonderful job by painting one of the walls green. Although this can be done for any sized room, I’ve read that painting one of the walls in a small room a different color (from the others) can give the impression that the room looks and feels bigger.

It depends on what color paint you use, but the color that Tara usedâa green or greenish color has been suggested for small rooms. As I take a close look at the color, I can see why. It not only opens up the space, but it’s tranquil and has a calming affect. Fabulous idea, Tara! We love it!

  • Consider a tower fan and a selection of storage carts to also keep space open. I think one of the most popular items I’ve seen thus far with small rooms is the use of storage carts.

Seeing this over and over again makes it easy to admit that storage carts do wonders when it comes to organizing a wealth of miscellaneous items that could get in the way and contribute to having a heap of clutter. Don’t you think?
