Small Homes: Melissa’s Passionate Paradise

Every time that I enter my small room I am very proud of the ways in which I have organized it. My small bedroom is the best, first of all, because it is romantically pleasing to the eyes and inviting to the soul. Thirdly, I love my small room because it exhibits who I am and I still have space to be and do the things I want to in it.

I love photography, and Iâm starting to enlarge some neat photographs of my friends and family and hang them on the wall. I have a piano that fits perfectly in a nook in my room. I use this as an emotional outlet⦠and this brings me so much joy! The mirror right beside my armoire is also perfect for me to look at when practicing my dancing! When the sun shines in my room it looks brilliant and the colors are illuminated beautifully. What a wonderful room I have!

Highlights of Melissaâs Room

  • Melissa did a fantastic job at highlighting her own room.
So, mainly Iâll let her speak for herself and only add a few things in to praise her for doing such a great job…

  • Use a stove as a nighstand.
The dark, wood furniture compliments the royal burgundy bedspread and the 3 mirrors, as well as other decorative pieces such as the black antique-looking stove, small piano, and feminine jewelry box. All of them add to the cozy feeling of the room. I feel like a princess whenever I am lying on my bed thinking, reading or writing, or drifting off to sleep.

Note: Pay particular attention to Melissaâs antique-looking stove. This really stands out because she took this idea and made it unique by using the stove as a bedside nightstand. You can see how she placed a small plant and book on it. Isnât that a wonderful idea that you could use to your own benefit? Thanks so much for sharing that with us, Melissa!

  • Consider placing wall-mounted shelving close to the ceiling.
Secondly, my room is creatively clever with use of space. I use the large armoire for most of my clothes and shoes, as well as my closet. However, the long chest of drawers I use for random things. I use each of the drawers for different themes so I know where to find everything. For example, one drawer contains all of my crafts and games; another my lotions, nail polishes, and pampering items; and yet another contains my stationary. The long shelf in my room holds many books, DVDs and my collection of trolls.

Note: Another of my favorite ideas is the shelving system Melissa used to get all of those items that she mentioned (books, DVDS, and so forth) off the floor and out of the way. I wouldâve never thought to place shelving that high. Strangely enough I wouldâve never gone past halfway up the wall. But honestly, I like her idea much better. It really compliments the room to have it close to the ceiling. And it looks fantastic!

Also I really love how she used the wall-mounted shelving to get her speakers out of the way. This is a really great idea if you have bulky speakers and donât want them cluttering up your room.
