Small Homes: Ina’s Equestrian Bedroom
I think my small bedroom is the best because my room represents who I am. It is filled with ribbons I won in horse shows and many good memories! I also think my small bedroom is the best because I can walk in my room and feel like I am at the barn but without the smell and work I would usually have to do! I learned a lot while creating my room. My dad and I painted the walls and stained the wood to create the barn effect. It was a lot of fun too!

Highlights of Ina’s Room…
-
Add a wall mural.
We all know that you can buy wall murals, but Ina’s room serves as a good reminder that you can paint your own wall mural on your wall. I love the landscape on her wall. The blues and greens make it very happy, and let me not forget that it also really opens up the space in her room. This is a really great idea if you want to liven things up a bit in an affordable way. -
Make each wall stand for something different.
What I also really love about Ina’s room is that each wall says something different. No wall is alike in her room. One one end you’ve got the wall mural (cool blue and green colors) which I’ve mentioned really opens up the space in her room. The other end has a nice warm red color to add intimacy and another wall is wooden which also manages to exude a cozy feeling.Although each wall is as different as night and day, they call come together very smoothly. Perhaps it’s because they are all bound together by a common theme? Her love for horseback riding. Or maybe it’s simply that they all somehow feel like they imitate nature? After all, of these colors can be found in nature (during one season or another). Who knows… but nonetheless it’s very well done and I can’t help but really like it!

Add clocks and other items for additional design.
What I also really admire about Ina’s room is that she uses something that she does well as the theme of her room. We have no doubt that she loves horses. Instead of hanging a photo on the wall where her mural is, instead she opted to hang a clock with a picture of a horse. I have to say that was one of my favorite ideas. I thought it was quite clever and it worked really well with the design of her room.I also thought the ribbons hanging along one wall was a terrific clutter-free way to display her rewards and add them to the overall decoration of her room. I think the wall mural would be a lot less interesting without them. It divided up the various shades of green perfectly and made the design authentic.
I see that she also used a wall-mounted curio to place various knickknacks and other sentiments, but my eyes again draw to the fact that she used this shelf to accentuate her ability and love of horses.
Take note of the trophy on top and the horses beside it. Again, not photos of horses but two or three-dimensional versions that add to the appeal of her wall mural. This I can’t get over because, for one, I obviously I love it. And two, the thought would’ve never crossed my mind to do something like that.
Lastly, the portrait of the horse on the wooden wall fits so well. Again this emphasizes her love of equestrian things and brings the overall theme of her room together flawlessly. Fabulous job, Ina! Thank you so much for sending in photos of your marvelous room!
