Small Space Questions: Dining Storage Tables

Your site is very helpful for those of us living in modest sized townhomes and apartments.
I have a small square kitchen that has enough room in one corner for a small bistro table or a storage cart.

I am trying to find countertop height table with two drop leaves and storage underneath for cookbooks and a couple small appliances.

It would serve as a breakfast, quick dinner for two table most of the time and an extra workspace when entertaining guests . I did see something similar at one time – before I needed it.

Do you have any suggestions where I might find something like this or an alternative? Thank you.

Thank you so much for your patience and thank you so much for your compliment on my site. I’m glad that you enjoy it. I really appreciate the support.

I’ve done a search and I think I might have found what you’re looking for. However, I’m not quite sure because although your description was thorough, I found myself thinking of two different types of carts with different dimensions. Yet, my best guess is telling me this might be the type of thing you’re looking for. If not, then please write me back with a little more detail and I’ll look for items closer to what you had in mind.

I could only find a few of them that met your requirements. For future reference, these types of tables are called “gateleg tables.” And the type you’d want would be one with a storage compartment/base. Assuming these are the type of tables you’re looking for, I thought I’d let you know in case you decide to search on your own. Yet, also like many items… you can’t always find them by simply knowing what they are. Sometimes they are listed under a different description or title, like the first one below.

This is may be a little shorter than counter-top height. It’s 29″ high.

Click on “View Larger Image” on the page and you can see an alternate view of the table. Same here. This one may be a bit shorter than counter-top height. It’s 29″ high.

This one has chairs and may not actually have a bottom to the storage compartment. If you’re interested in it, you might want to write Stack and Stacks to make sure it has a bottom, so you can actually store your items in the compartment.

If it turns out it does and you want the table but not the chairs, you could always get rid of them by donating them or something.

These are purchases that have to be made locally and aren’t sold online. Ikea tables…

Same here. It’s 29″ high.

Miscellaneous Purchases

Another option is eBay.

Some of the listings include local purchases and some you can have shipped but there are some nice antique gateleg tables you can get or be on the lookout for. You might have to have it restained if it’s not up to par. I suspect you probably won’t want these, but I don’t like to rule things out because you never know.
