DIY: Building a Hanging Bed

Building a hanging bed… probably not an idea that comes to mind often. But luckily they do exist and make a great conversation piece.

However, the true question is whether or not these beds will actually save you space if you build one.

Well, I think that depends on how high you hang it. It is possible if you were to make minor adjustments to the height of the bed, you could in fact save some substantial floor space. However, to accomodate for the height you might need to use a step stool or build your own staircase to go with it. That way you can climb up and down with no difficulty.

The DIY refers to building a hanging bed in a sunroom, but obviously this could be hung anywhere as long as the right support system is used. For instance, you could consider hanging it in a loft or studio apartment to start with.

The project itself is intermediate, so your skillset will have to be a tad bit above that of a beginner.
