How to Build Your Own Awesome Cheap Space Saving Furniture

Okay, I was roaming the web recently and ran into a website that you may or may not know of.

It’s pretty popular so chances are you could’ve had a brush with it at some point. Or maybe you’re one of the people who have offered how-to tips on it?

Nonetheless, I really wanted to recommend it after I ran across some cool space saving furniture how-to guides. You can choose to take or leave whatever you want, but I liked specific guides so much that I made a link of all my favorites and thought I’d pass them on to you.

Anyway, the site is called Instructables.com. Sound familiar? Well, in any case here are my absolute favorite how-tos created by everyday average people like you and me.

I scanned the entire “Home” section of the site and found the best ones (in my opinion).

  • Build a Sturdy Loft Bed on Scraps of Lumber for Less Than $20

Now this one I really like because they not only created a loft bed but used a rod beneath it to hang clothes. Isn’t that positively the coolest? This is a really great idea for a dorm room or a room without a bed and a closet.

  • How to Build an Invisible Bookshelf

There are actually bookshelves similar to this that are on the market that I’ve actually recommended on this website but if you’d like to build your own… why not, right? I’m into DIY stuff. Maybe I’ll build one of these.

  • How to Build a Bookshelf Made from Encyclopedias

This idea is quite cheeky. And if you’re on a budget and have some unused encyclopedias lying around, then this might be just the idea for you.

  • Build a 60-minute Bookcase

I really like this design. This design is better than similar bookcases on the market. If you’ve got some spare plywood, you could build it for next to nothing.

  • Build an Aluminum Wall-Mounted Desk

If you don’t like the instructions on how to wall-mounted desk that I offer, maybe you’ll like this desk better. It’s aluminum and can be built for about $30. A great space saving desk for anyone on a budget.

  • Build a Wall-Mounted Closet Hanger

In other words, you might digg this idea if you don’t have a closet. A shower curtain rod and a hacksaw and you can trim this buddy down to size.

This is DIY heaven if you ask me. Especially for the budget-oriented person.

And of course, if you don’t like those ideas you can browse the other instruction manuals on the site. I only went through the “Home” section but there are other sections that might prove to be beneficial to you as well.

Anyway, happy DIYing.
